The 10 Best Ways to Chill While You're Stoned
As you probably already know, different strains of weed are good for different things. Sometimes when I toke, I look for products at a Roselle dispensary (or one nearby) that boosts creativity and energy. But mostly, I smoke to relax, calm my anxiety, and help me sleep. There are a thousand and one things to do while stoned, but during my lifetime experimenting with marijuana and most recently experiencing it legally from Illinois dispensaries like EarthMed, I’ve developed my own list of go-to activities.
When you have no plans for the day, try something from our list of fun things to do while stoned. Here are 10 ideas for what you can do the next time you're looking to spark up and chill out.
- Listening to Music While High: Turning on your favorite band is a classic stoner activity, right? I remember the giant speakers and rows of records that my dad had in the basement. Something about Maryjane and music creates a beautiful synergy – they just go together. Sometimes I like to listen to my favorite songs, other times it's classical, or new artists that I have never heard of. The combination of music and marijuana has never let me down.
- Watching Movies While High: We live in the digital age, and streaming any show or movie is almost too simple. There are few things I would rather do on a lazy, weed hazy day than binge-watch a series or watch movies. Although my preference leans towards lighthearted content that doesn't require much brainpower or attention when I am puffing, sometimes documentaries tickle my fancy as well. You never know what will interest you until you get high and start watching.
- Meditating While High: Sparking up a heavy indica can help you to quiet your mind and get in some zen time. Since these types of strains can lead to deep relaxation, it’s best to chill like this before bedtime. Meditating with marijuana can help you reach a deeper state of relaxation and self-awareness. Plus, then you can just drift off into a night of blissful sleep when you are finished.
- Cooking While High: If you know me, you know I don’t love to cook. I leave that up to my husband, but he swears that the chopping, sauteing, braising, and basting relaxes him – especially when he’s stoned. He likes to experiment with new recipes and flavors and even incorporates weed butter into some of the recipes for us.
- Eating While High: Although I don’t care to cook, I do like to eat – and this is exacerbated when I am smoking. Since most types of marijuana will increase your appetite, wanting to eat is common among cannabis users. It’s important to still be mindful of what you are eating so you don’t overdo it and feel too full. - Organize While Toking: Sometimes, when a hybrid or sativa strain hits just right, I will get the itch to tidy up and organize something. Whether a bookshelf, a junk drawer, or your kitchen cabinets – chances are that there is something in your life that needs organizing right now. Maybe that next sativa session will spark some organizational motivation!
- Get Stoned and Scroll TikTok: The quarantine in 2020 introduced me to TikTok, and now one of my favorite things to do after getting baked is to scroll and watch short videos made by strangers. No matter what you are into, TikTok has content that you want to see. From mild gardening and DIY cleaning hacks to extreme sports and pranks and everything in between, if you want to chill and scroll, check out TikTok. Careful though, it's habit-forming because it’s so easy to do. You will likely end up scrolling for longer than you anticipated.
- Be in Nature While Lighting Up: Part of the wonder of marijuana is that it is a medicine that comes from the Earth. Maybe that’s why it feels so good to chill in nature after consuming cannabis. One of my favorite things to do outside when I’m lifted is to find a sunset spot and enjoy being in nature, watching the immense sky change colors.
- Soaking in the Hot Tub or Taking a Bath While High: I love warm water when I’m stoned. Something about it just stimulates my senses and makes me feel like I am wrapped in a warm cocoon of happiness. Taking a bath or going in a hot tub while you are blazed is one of the most chill things you can do. You can even smoke while you are in the water, which is like a double whammy of awesome.
- Sleeping While High: Obviously, the king of chill, while you are high, is sleeping. When you’re exhausted after a long day of work, chilling out with a nice, long weed nap is one of the best things to do while high. When you are smoking and your eyelids start to feel heavy and your eyes stop working, you know some good stuff is about to come your way. Collapse into the heaviness, and enjoy a deep snooze courtesy of cannabis.
