9 Productive Things to Do While Stoned

Posted by Canna Randa on Dec 21, 2021

Contrary to popular belief, consuming marijuana doesn’t necessarily mean that you'll be out of commission, couch-locked, and useless for the rest of your day. It's tons of fun hanging out, watching movies, and listening to music while high, but you can also be productive and get some things done.

In fact, some strains of weed will increase your focus on the task at hand, no matter how monotonous. Indica strains can make users feel sleepy or lazy, making them ideal for nighttime use or for those looking to unwind and relax. However, sativa-dominant strains are generally known for their uplifting, energizing, and cerebral effects. Below are a few ways I like to spend my time after sparking up.

1. Cleaning around the house: Wash the dishes, vacuum the living room or clean out your bong while enjoying the effects of an uplifting and motivating sativa strain if you want to get things done a little quicker. Cleaning isn’t necessarily everyone’s favorite chore, so lighten the mental load by taking a hit before getting to work. Pro tip: getting baked and cleaning your house ahead of the weekend will leave you with even more time to relax and unwind.

2. Exercising: Go for a jog or lift some weights while you enjoy a hit of your sativa flower. Working out while high will help you reach a certain euphoric and energized state that you won't get anywhere else. Remember that getting high is also fun while doing outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, and other sports, so you don’t have to limit yourself to the weight room. Medicate to motivate, and you might be surprised how much further you can push yourself on weed.

3. Watching a TV series or playing a game: Grab a warm blanket and catch up on some of your favorite shows. It seems like there’s always another hit series that your friends are talking about, so bunker down and cruise through a few seasons to see what all of the fuss is about. If you’re more of a gamer, then just as well, be sure to light up before you grind through some levels. This activity is best enjoyed after a sativa or hybrid strain since indica can be a bit heavy.

4. Cooking or baking: Who doesn’t want to get baked before baking? After smoking an indica-based plant, you may find that you have a deeper appreciation for the smells and flavors in your kitchen. 5. Reading a book: Lighting up can be a great way to improve your reading experience. However, depending on whether you’re reading for necessity or pleasure, you’ll need to be mindful of your chosen strain. If you need to study or prepare a book report, you’re better off with a sativa plant, but if you plan on reading casually to wind down, indica products may provide a more relaxed, euphoric experience.

6. Gardening or yard work: Grab your best rake, sheers, or gardening spade and head outside with a joint. If you’ve got some tomatoes that need planting or weeds that need picking, try smoking something with a hybrid lineage to take the edge off of the chore of your afternoon project. If you finish up your yard work early, we recommend spending your day relaxing in the garden or on the patio. Nothing beats a day in the sun soaking up all the delicious vitamin D and inhaling the THC.

7. Online shopping: If you need to shop for a gift, taking a hit before browsing the internet may help you think of creative ideas. Also, keep in mind that an hour or two of online shopping for groceries can significantly lighten your weekly to-do list. Try to make a list throughout the week so that you can zip through your order in no time. Just be careful not to spend too much on unhealthy munchies

8. Painting or drawing: Let your artistic juices flow and try to create something beautiful. Puffing on an uplifting sativa or sativa-dominant hybrid may help you to feel the inspiration you’ve needed to design a new logo or even paint the next Mona Lisa! Even if you’re not an avid painter or graphic artist, doodling while you’re stoned can be a lot of fun.

9. Catching up on sleep: Indica strains of weed offer a more soothing high that can help you deeply relax and even fall asleep. If you’ve been having trouble sleeping or you simply want to take a nap before a busy weekend, sparking up some indica will relax you and even help restore your natural sleep cycle.

This list is not an exhaustive list of everything you can do while blissfully medicated. If all else fails, you can find a way to give back to the community or volunteer. I have found that consuming cannabis puts a positive spin on pretty much any activity. It makes colors a bit brighter, sounds a bit crisper, and life a bit better.
